How I Accepted Jesus

A Miracle Weekend That Ended In Salvation - pg. 6 Dedicated to my son Le Grande Jacob Ahlers II, who was so instrumental in leading me to God. We arrived home at Frank's dock, cleaned the Maria, and then Frank shared the fish we were keeping. I made a date with Frank to go to the fish market on Monday to sell our catch! I rushed across the street to tell Joan my good luck in getting the big one, when I'm greeted with the unpleasant news that someone is living in our house that's for sale in Monticello on Sackett Lake Road, and that Eva Newcombe rented it to them. Joan was extremely excited about this situation and wanted me to call the state police and have the people evacuate our house and Eva arrested! My son Dean was going to use the home on the Columbus Day Weekend and reported this to his mother. I decided to call Eva to get her explanation first, before doing anything else. When I contacted Eva she explained that the family wanted to buy the house for the full asking price. When neither my son, Le Grande, could be reached, nor I, she was was afraid of losing the sale, and allowed the family to move in. They had no other place to live and knew I wanted to sell the house! Eva was a women who talked with forked tongue, so I sold her my Real Estate business and building to get away from a possible loss of Real Estate License, since she worked under my License as a sales girl. Accepting Eva's story was done under two conditions: they pay the down payment to my son Le Grande by overnight mail, and the check is to be released to me, for my use, not to be held in escrow, and that they start paying the rent on the house for at least six months, or until the mortgage is approved. Eva agreed and I made the deal. When I got finished with the call Joan was furious to hear that I rented the house to people I never met instead of arresting them for trespassing, and arresting Eva for something. I tried everything I could think of to convince Joan that I made the right decision for us but she would not have it. I was convinced I made the right decision, as trying to heat a house in Monticello in the winter is hard and expensive, and instead of money going out every month we would have money coming in. It was a wining situation with no risk. I told Joan that in going over what happened to me in the last few days -- sinking a boat, invited to go grouper, and shark fishing the same night, catching a monstrous shark the next day, and selling our house in Monticello so fast (all this in one week end!) -- I knew there was a divine intervention in this all happening at one time. I am ready to ask Jesus to come into my life. I got down on my knees and said the sinners prayer, inviting Jesus to come into my life and take control of it, as I truly believe that Jesus died for me, is now alive, for sinners like me, that truly believe in following Jesus! I am now are ready for a grouper dinner. Monday morning early I pick up Frank, along with the two boxes filled with grouper, and head for the fish market. We unload the boxes and the fish are weighed and sorted. While Frank is making the finiancil arrangements I noticed a shark hanging and ask a butcher how much a pound they were paying. He said $1.00 a lb. I asked him what a hammerhead is worth and he says $1.50 a lb. I drive Frank back home and say thank you, and he takes my hand and asks me, "how big was my tiger shark?" I say 15'. "How big was your hammerhead?" I say 14'. He says, "remember, I am the number 1 shark hunter, and you are number 2, don't forget that." The Green-Eyed Monster showed up again, right in Frank, as he said my shark weighed only 750lbs, and his weighed 1,000lbs. When I went back to work I told my friends about the big shark I caught. "Yeah, show us a picture." I have none. A few days later I was in a boat shop where I am known. They were looking at pictures of a shark and showed them to me. I am in full uniform, and I say "that's my fish!" The friend of Frank's said, "are you Le Grande the cop? These pictures were made for you," and he gives me the pictures of my shark -- that he was bragging on as his! The end (for now...) |
