A Report From Pennsylvania
February, 2000
Greetings from Palmyra (not Hershey) PA... where the snow is howling and the ice is threatening to make this a truely memorable day. We are at work while every other school district in the four surrounding counties are closed. I know you all empathize... especially all you Floridians!
Well, we have all our earthly possessions under one roof... not that everything is organized and put away; but it does feel good to know where your "stuff" is (well... kind of know). We are beginning to feel at home in our new house... what a blessing from God! While the house is not much larger than the one in Hershey, it is larger in that it is a "box" rather than a "cape," so the bedrooms upstairs are much bigger and we have a full basement with high ceilings (LeGrande, you won't have to duck anymore!)... and we are simply feeling very spoiled.
LeAnn actually has a walk-in closet, and we are enjoying the privacy of a master bathroom for the first time since we've been married... What a concept! (as Brian would say). Brian is snuggled in his room which he has completely re-decorated around his "Dancing Bears" motif (you have to see it to understand). Elise is patiently awaiting a re-make of her bedroom, but is enjoying the luxury of a huge wall-long closet.
Brian and Fred have been busy converting the unfinished basement into four rooms (a large family room, guest bedroom/office/computer room -- {yes we may be online at home soon}, a laundry/sewing room, and much needed storage room/furnace area). The rooms are framed, electrical circuits are hooked up and we are now awaiting the funds for the insulation/sheet rock and the gas fireplace (the one paycheck at a time drill).
Derby is in his glory, snuggling on the sun-porch with Elise (which is the reason we bought the house by her assessment)... it has been in the 30 degree range outside, and nearly 70 degrees on the sun-porch during the afternoons. He is also enjoying the freedom of his full fenced-in back yard (his reason for buying the house!).
LeAnn and Elise have been busy in their new spacious kitchen whipping up lots of delicious meals and those "Elise desserts"... all amazingly fat free... (right!).
Well, if we sound excited... we are. We are so grateful for the wondrous hand of God upon our family -- through all the trials, He is able!
If you have a spare weekend and would enjoy a free meal and free lodging you can make your reservations by phoning us. Please call early for the best dates -- our calendar is filling up fast! Ha!
For now, so long from the Palmyranians (we sound like a new breed of Dogs!)
